This new organization has developed as a result of two high school students who are now part of the Wellness Committee. These students have made a proposal to the Wellness Committee and school administration that began this Fall. Plans for the year include:
- Organizing a Walk-A-Thon
- Mentoring Program for Elementary students
- BMI Quarterly (for High School students)
- Health Expo
- Health Awareness assemblies
These students are responsible school leaders, eager to begin to raise the awareness of good nutrition and exercise. This program will potentially impact every student in the district since the Teen Advocates plan to take their programs out to every building much like the STAMP program for tobacco use. The Health Expo will be held in the high school gymnasium and every school will be invited to attend and participate. The students who co-founded this organization presented at the Zone 7 Workshop on November 6, 2006.
- Program Dates: 2006-2007 school year
