CATCH Trainer and Lima Physical Education Teacher, Jackie Fields, has successfully completed a pilot afterschool program at Bluffton Elementary School. Participants in the program included 20 fourth graders. As a result, the school has put more focus on physical activity. The principal has been a great supporter of the CATCH program and designed t-shirts for its participants. The principal even created a "Health Day" around the CATCH program. Jackie assisted with the planning of this fun day geared to the whole student body consisting of 508 K-5 students. Students participated in a full day of physical activity with huge inflatable games. Funding for the day was provided by the PTO and local businesses and organizations. Jackie has offered CATCH training workshops for Zone 2 schools. As of May 31, 2006, twenty-four Zone 2 schools have participated in the training. |
